What is a NTC Temperature Sensor?

NTC stands for “Negative Temperature Coefficient”, meaning the temperature that the sensor detects is reversely related to the sensor resistance.  The higher the temperature, the temperature detected, the lower the resistance coincide.  It has a semi logarithm resistance to temperature characteristics, meaning very high sensor responsiveness to temperature.  During vehicle usage, the onboard ECU sends a constant voltage  to the sensor.  This voltage goes through the circuit loop of the sensor and feeds back the ECU a variable voltage depending on the temperature detected.  NTC Temperature Sensor is generally used for just in time temperature control.
